Pairs well with: The excitement of starting a wine blog!
Rose sparkling wines don’t always get the credit that they deserve – and they’ve definitely become a lot more approachable to the average consumer. This is a wine that could be drunk “just because” – because you’re done work for the day, or because you didn’t go to work today in the first place.
The fun: This wine pours a pale salmon colour with a moderate mousse and medium size bubbles. We found it to have aromas of peach, cherry, lemon zest, and a touch of white pepper and yeastiness. On the palate it is medium in body, quite dry (it is labelled a brut) with bright acidity, and the feel of the bubbles is neither rough nor particularly fine. We found the flavours a bit different from the aroma: watermelon, cherry, bitter orange rind, and then more yeasty and peppery notes. The finish is medium to long, with the pithy citrus zest and yeasty/bready notes dominating. Overall, it is quite characterful and bright, but also has a fun simplicity to it.
